SAND IN MY GUN

My uncle was one of the heroes of the second world war, born in 1912, his war in the desert and his brother officers in the eighth army- that was his life. He retired to the Channel Isles, and some thirty years after his death his army issue revolver has just turned up. Someone in Sark had purchased it, or found it after he died and gave it back to my cousin Eric Saumarez who lives on Guernsey. They opened the holster and sand fell out on the floor – sand from El Alamein!

That sand is the same today as it has been for all times. Some things never change. The advice game will never change. Customers need reassurance and an expert friend that they can go to in a complex world. They will pay for that, and you supply that. Advice is the same for all times.

But how you advise changes constantly. Regulation slows you up, but also kills off competition, phone calls have been replaced by whatsapp and email, cigarettes by vape, and paperwork by digital files. Demands for disclosure is now at fever pitch making the advice game more complex than ever before.

To navigate this you need systems and processes. BAT was built to help automate the compliance back office. Automated SR reports, centralised storage, consolidated T&C and a dashboard to bring your team together. The key for me is to create a scaleable back office CRM, and that is what I am proud to have delivered.
