BAT Software was built from real experience running a large retail advice business.

Proven at scale

Founded in 2014, BAT began as an in-house system developed to manage a network of more than 500 independent financial advisers, which later migrated into Sanlam. At the time, existing tools failed to give managers and compliance teams the real-time visibility needed to oversee adviser activity, records, and regulatory obligations at scale.

Oversight relied on disconnected systems, manual processes, and delayed reporting. Costs were high, flexibility was limited, and development priorities were driven by vendors rather than the needs of advice firms. In several cases, the business was told it was simply too small to influence product direction.

BAT was created to change that.

The platform was designed to give management clear, real-time insight into adviser files and activity, while keeping advisers’ day-to-day work simple. It brings communication, oversight, and record-keeping into a single system built specifically for running multi-adviser practices.

Today, BAT is used by networks and national firms that need structured, in-app collaboration between advisers and compliance teams. It supports adviser records, training and exam tracking, new business and commission oversight, and AI-assisted file checking that works alongside advisers’ existing documentation.

BAT is jointly owned by the CEO and its staff, ensuring long-term alignment and a continued focus on building practical solutions to real operational problems.
